Bromley Community Alcohol Service

The Bromley Community Alcohol Service is commissioned by the local NHS Primary Care Trust.

Who is our service for?

Bromley Community Alcohol Service is free and confidential and available to Bromley residents aged 18+ who believe their drinking is problematic and wish to make changes.

How do we run the service?

  • We assess each service user to identify the best interventions for their individual needs.
  • We provide therapeutic, psychological and social interventions via group work and individual key work sessions, to enable people to address their alcohol use and related problems.
  • We offer groups for those who wish to attain total

abstinence and for those who are not currently wishing to commit to abstinence but still want to make changes to their drinking.

  • We manage the pathway to medical detoxification for those who are physically dependent on alcohol.
  • We provide pre detox sessions to prepare people for detoxification and help them put together a post detox aftercare plan.
  • We offer sessions at Bromley Community Drug Project to informally discuss our service, treatment options or any other drink related issues
  • We have contacts with local self help groups and can advise you on how to get involved.
  • We can sign post and refer people into other specialist services such as counselling, education, training and employment services and housing advice.

How do I access the service?

We accept referrals directly from GPs and our referral form can be found on their EMIS computer system.

Self referrals can also be made via the REACH drop in service at the Bromley Community Drug Project(BCDP).

Please note that there are no drop in facilities in Orpington and attendance at our main service is by appointment only. If you want see someone informally about your drinking, you can attend the REACH at BCDP.
