Birmingham Structured Day Service

What we aim to achieve

Our skilled staff members work with individuals who have a desire
to change their pattern of behaviour and drug use, addressing
lifestyle, health, social and criminal justice issues.
We will work with our service users to support them in improving
their physical and psychological health, as well as how they cope in
society. We aim to enable and empower individuals to reintegrate
back into their communities.

Who is our service for?

It is for men and women aged 18+ living in Birmingham who are
currently dependent on drugs and are wishing to address this, or
who have recently become abstinent.
You will need to be able to make a commitment in terms of
timekeeping and regular attendance and will have to contribute in a
group work setting and, therefore, ordinarily be stable on
prescribed medication or drug free.

How we run the service

We provide a timetabled programme of therapeutic groups, as well
as working jointly with other professionals and outside agencies to
provide you with individual/group support.

How does the programme work?

We recognise that remaining drug free requires changes in many
aspects of your life and the content of our programme reflects this.
The basic programme is 12 weeks long and consists of CBT
(Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) based group work and continuous
one-to-one support.
Topics include: relapse prevention, life skills, health awareness,
nutrition, moving on and gender specific groups.
In addition, we provide appropriate leisure activities and links with
external agencies that provide specialist support in other areas
such as housing, education, employment, alcohol, health and
complementary therapies.
We also offer aftercare, which includes peer-led support groups
and an individually tailored 'Onward Support' plan which can
remain in place for 12 months or more depending on your level of
need.

Are there any rules?

In order to maintain a safe environment, certain kinds of behaviour
(such as violence or aggression) on or off our premises, may lead
to immediate suspension from the programme and possibly other
consequences.
You will be provided with a clear copy and explanation of the rules
before or during an assessment interview.

What are our opening hours?

Monday to Friday: 9.15am - 4.45pm
Saturday: 9.30am -1.00pm

How do I access the service?

key worker to refer you to us. If you encounter any problems,
please do not hesitate to contact us directly. See below for
