“There was a heart-warming atmosphere on the day and it was lovely to hear the conversation and laughter that took place.”

In June our teams in Trafford held Big Lunch events, bringing together the people that use the service, their friends and families and the wider community.

The Big Lunch encourages communities across the UK to have lunch with their neighbours at the beginning of June to build community spirit. We saw this as a great opportunity to meet our neighbours, build relationships with the local community, and showcase what Phoenix Futures has to offer.

The Big Lunch at the Trafford Young People’s Service

The Trafford Young People’s team invited guests to join them at the service where they shared lunch, took part in activities, and learnt about how we support young people in the community.

Clare Makin, Service Manager of Phoenix Futures Young People’s Service said

“We wanted to take part in the Big Lunch event as we thought it was a fantastic opportunity to spend time with young people, their families, neighbours and colleagues in a relaxed, informal setting.  There was a heart-warming atmosphere on the day and it was lovely to hear the conversation and laughter that took place.”

The Big Lunch at the Bridgewater Recovery Service

The second of our Big Lunch events in Trafford was held at the Bridgewater Recovery Service. Over 40 guests visited the service to enjoy a buffet lunch and meet some of the residents.

Helen Brewin, Service Manager said:

“We thought hosting a Big Lunch event would be an excellent opportunity to get to know our neighbours and other providers in the sector and more importantly have an informal day where everyone can be more relaxed and just get to know each other including service users’ families. People who enter our services have been through very tough times and simple acts of community, friendship and fun like these can be incredibly beneficial to their recovery.”
