Our Impact

At the Phoenix Futures Group, we are committed to showing that recovery is possible. Each year we work with thousands of people affected by drug and alcohol problems to help rebuild their lives.

Over the past year we’ve made significant contributions to individuals, families and communities facing problems relating to substance misuse:

Recovery by Numbers

During 2015/16 we helped a total number of 23,650 people in their journey to recovery from drug and alcohol issues. Of these, we helped

  • 1,151 through our residential services

  • 12,632 through our community services

  • 9,867 through our prison services

Our Residential Impact

The number of people completing our residential rehabilitation programme has increased from 55% in 2011 to 78% in 2014 against a national benchmark of 57%.

Our research also shows benefits for people that don’t complete our residential rehabilitation programme. Of those who don’t complete* we found that:

  • 58% were still drug free when following up with them within 9 months of leaving

  • 78% reported better mental health than on entry

  • 85% have gone on to receive further treatment or recovery support

* Based on a sample research group.

Social and Community Impact

  • People using our services have volunteered 66 hours per person as part of our Recovery through Nature programme, improving outside spaces and making our communities better places to live.

  • Since mid-2012 we have trained over 160 peer mentors in two specific services.

  • 237 of our service users completed either a qualification or course in the year to November 2016

  • We delivered drug and alcohol awareness education to 2,349 pupils.
