Barnsley Treatment and Engagement Service
What do we aim to achieve?
We aim to achieve and maintain a reduction in offending behaviour by directly addressing substance misuse amongst our service users, including those referred through the criminal justice system.
Who is our service for?
It is for men and women aged 18+ who are living in Barnsley and are either looking for help in accessing treatment for their problematic alcohol or drug use, or are required to do so.
What can our Treatment and Engagement Team offer?
- Outreach and drop in services providing information,support and advice on substances, health and treatment options
- An initial needs assessment
- Referral into detoxification, structured treatment or other related services
Our skilled workers will be available within custody suites to ensure individuals can be assessed to access treatment and support when they need it, or when they are required to do so. The engagement team may also be your first point of contact within the treatment system across a range of locations in Barnsley.
Our treatment team of experienced counsellors will provide one to one sessions, using a range of psychosocial interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and counselling, as well as
access to complimentary therapies.
How we work
We are based in the centre of Barnsley, but will accommodate appointments in different areas when necessary. We recognise that drug and alcohol misuse can affect anyone. We will respond to the diverse needs of our service users and try to overcome any barriers that make it difficult to use our service. If we cannot meet your needs we will do our best to find you alternative support.
