Volunteering
Phoenix Futures is committed to using volunteers, as this adds to the quality and depth of the service we provide and can be a good way of helping ex-service users get employment.
Volunteering opportunities are available in our Services where, for example, a graduate of a Phoenix Futures programme may run a Family Focus group, act as a mentor or assist with activities. There are also volunteering opportunities within the Fundraising and Marketing departments at Phoenix Futures Central Office.
Volunteers are not paid for their involvement but all relevant expenses are reimbursed; for example in some cases travel expenses may be claimed.
All volunteers will be treated fairly and appropriately and this includes being clear about their roles and responsibilities. Volunteers will work under the supervision of staff members at all times.
About applying to be a volunteer
Anyone interested in applying to be a volunteer at one of our Services will be asked to fill in an application form and give references. A Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check will be carried out by Phoenix Futures. Potential volunteers for our prison services may require further prison police checks and security clearance.
Any ex-Phoenix Futures service user wishing to volunteer must have been out of our Services for at least two years. This is for the safety and security of our clients.
People volunteering at our Central Office will not need a CRB or police check unless they will be visiting our Services.
