Futures in Mind is a partnership of:
Phoenix Futures, Mind in West Essex and Mid and North East Essex Mind.
Together we will support people with substance/alcohol misuse and mental ill health. The service has been commissioned by Essex County Council and has been co-produced with service users.
Below are just some of the ways that we can help support others:
Peer Led Activities
Futures in Mind offers community groups and activities, open to adults 18+ who would like to meet others on their journey of recovery from mental ill health and/or substance/alcohol misuse. The activities are created to make you feel included in friendly, sociable events. At the groups you can talk through any difficulties you have and socialise with people who will be empathetic and supportive.
The Volunteers who run these activities and groups are all people who have been affected by mental ill health and/or substance/alcohol misuse and provide a friendly welcome and give support to others.
A Futures in Mind volunteer befriender could help you find your confidence and enthusiasm again and feel part of your community and to experience the things you have stopped doing, due to lack of confidence and feelings of isolation.
Training and mentoring:
We have a range of training and mentoring available for individuals in recovery from substance and alcohol misuse and/or poor mental health. Training can help us make positive connections, develop our skills and to give us focus. In addition, peer mentors who have experienced drug and alcohol misuse are matched with people who are in early recovery.
