Phoenix goes to Holyrood

Phoenix Futures were invited to Holyrood to deliver a presentation to MSPs on the services we provide and and share our views on service gaps within the drug and alcohol field. Marion Logan, Director of Operations Scotland and Tam Weir, Specialist Operations Manager, were joined by Michelle Coulter and Sarah Wiktorski and two of our current service users James and Tracey. We suggested that there was a need to establish evidence to show that each geographical area is working towards the aims of Scotland's Drug Strategy; that a range of support options are not currently offered in every area of Scotland; and that greater connectedness was needed between different services, particularly for individuals entering and leaving prison. Tracey and James' stories were really powerful in highlighting these issues.
Helping families affected by drug and alcohol problems
Phoenix Futures brings positive change in the lives of individuals, families and communities affected by substance misuse.
Karen who recently attended her son Paul's graduation day at our Sheffield Residential Service shares her story:
"For 15 years we watched our son go through misery and torment with drink and drugs. It was a continual nightmare waiting for the day someone would tell us he had died. In November 2008 Paul went into Phoenix Futures and has never looked back. We cannot thank all the staff enough for turning my son into the confident, happy and content person that he is today. If it wasn't for Phoenix Futures we are sure Paul would not be with us today."
The challenges of the future
Karen Biggs, our Chief Executive, sets our her predictions of the future challenges facing the drug and alcohol sector and how Phoenix Futures will face these challenges.
