Recovery starts with feeling safe, supported and understood. At New Oakwood Lodge, that’s exactly what people are finding - and it’s now been recognised with a “Good” rating across all five areas and multiple areas of outstanding care recognised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
This first full inspection result reflects the dedication of our staff team, the strength of our approach, and the determination of the people we support every day.
“We’re incredibly proud of this outcome. Recovery is about far more than stopping substance use - it’s about rebuilding confidence, health and purpose. This report recognises the safe, compassionate and empowering environment we work hard to create every day.” Lori Parker, Head of Residentials at Phoenix Futures
New Oakwood Lodge is based in a recently refurbished and highly accessible residential setting near Derby, offering 24/7 support in a welcoming and structured environment.
Inspectors praised that people feel safe and protected, with strong safeguarding in place and staff always available when needed. Just as importantly, people are encouraged to take positive steps forward - building confidence and independence as part of their recovery. People here are actively involved in decisions about their care, helping to create a culture of openness and trust.
No two recovery journeys are the same. At New Oakwood Lodge, the CQC recognised outstanding care because support is tailored to every individual.

Recovery isn’t a straight line, and support needs to change along the way.
We support adults aged 18 and over, including people facing mental health challenges alongside addiction. Care is adapted as people’s needs evolve, ensuring the right support is in place at every stage.
Other areas of good and outstanding practice recognised include how staff work closely with other services and professionals to make sure people continue to feel supported when they leave residential treatment and move back into the community.
Our service was also praised for the importance it places on fairness and inclusion - taking steps to remove barriers and ensure everyone can access the support they need. Clear, accessible communication helps people and their families stay informed throughout their journey.
The service was recognised as well-led, with a supportive leadership team and a positive working culture.
We are proud to say that our staff reported that they feel valued and supported, and there is a strong focus on learning, collaboration and continuous improvement. Regular reviews and clear oversight help the service keep developing and improving outcomes for the people it supports.
