The Recovery Street Film Festival is a filmmaking competition and festival that celebrates recovery. For the second year running we are working in partnership with Turning Point, Blenheim CDP, Action on Addiction, Angelus Foundation, Drink and Drug News and Addaction to encourage anyone affected by problems relating to drugs and alcohol to make a three minute film about recovery. The films are then shortlisted by a panel of film industry experts before being screened at pop-up cinema events in different towns and cities across England and Scotland.
In 2015, the film festival travelled to Durham, Glasgow, Blythe, Manchester, London and Sheffield during Recovery Month. Watch the video below to see what people thought of this year's event.
The Recovery Street Film Festival enables us to engage with a new audience that would not normally be involved in a ‘recovery community’. By taking the festival to the street we engage with people who may not have met anyone with drug or alcohol problems. Through film we enable them to ‘meet people’ affected by substance misuse and improve their level of understanding of recovery.
