Criminal Justice Support Service

HMP Wayland

Location: Thetford

Our Recovery Inside prison service, run in HMP Wayland, provides assessment and psychosocial support for men in custody who have drug and alcohol problems. Through one­-to-­ones and group sessions, the Phoenix Futures team provide a therapeutic approach to treatment.

Services Offered/Interventions:

  • One-to-ones and group sessions aimed to be responsive to service user’s individual needs
  • Mutual aid groups, Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART recovery
  • Release planning
  • Parole preparation
  • Residential rehab applications
  • Peer mentor scheme
  • Family support – dedicated family worker
  • Bespoke CSMS service
  • Recovery Community

How to refer: 

Any prisoner can self-refer to service. We also accept referrals for any offender from a third party. This could include another member of staff within the prison, anyone involved in their care that is based in the community, family members etc. All residents are seen as part of their induction within 72 hours of transferring into the prison.

Men aged 21 years and over and who want to address the problematic use of substances, including alcohol, prescribed medications, and legal or illegal drugs.
