Criminal Justice Support Service

HMP / YOI Hollesley Bay

Location: Woodbridge

HMP Hollesley Bay is a Category D prison near Woodbridge in Suffolk. Phoenix Futures offer support to prisoners and focus on tailoring interventions to the individual’s needs. Working closely with other departments to support their progression to accessing RoTLs (town visits, home leaves, paid community work etc.) and working towards their release. Phoenix Futures work alongside the Healthcare department to support individuals who are prescribed an opiate substitute.

Our Recovery Inside prison service, at HMP Hollesley Bay, provides assessment and psychosocial support for men in custody with drug and alcohol problems. Through one-to-ones, groups, and mutual aid the team provide a therapeutic approach to treatment.

Services Offered/Interventions:

  • One-to-ones and group sessions aimed to be responsive to service user’s individual needs
  • Mutual aid groups, Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery
  • Release planning
  • Parole preparation
  • Support with RoTLs
  • Recovery through Nature scheme
  • Residential rehab applications
  • Peer support scheme
  • Family support from a dedicated Family Worker

How to refer: 

Any prisoner can self-refer to service. We also accept referrals from third parties. This could include another member of staff within the prison, anyone involved in their care that is based in the community, family members etc. All prisoners are seen by our service as part of their induction.

Who we help

Men aged 21 years and over and who want to address the problematic use of substances, including alcohol, prescribed medications, and legal or illegal drugs.

Our Partners

We work closely with all departments within the establishment, including Healthcare and Mental Health services and the OMU department. We also work closely with community drug and alcohol agencies to support with transition into the community.
