Our Derbyshire Community Substance Misuse Team, in partnership with Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, have been awarded Gold following an NHS quality assessment.

The team run services in Ripley, Chesterfield, Swadlincote and Ilkeston, covering the whole of Derbyshire providing community support for people with drug and alcohol problems. The Phoenix Futures team offer therapeutic treatment including one-to-ones and group sessions, which work alongside medical treatment such as prescription services.

The team scored highly in all areas, which were based on five key questions of quality:

•           Are services safe?

•           Are services caring?

•           Are services effective?

•           Are services responsive to people’s needs?

•           Are services well led?

Dave Potts, Service Manager, explained what the Gold standard meant for his team: “It’s no easy task achieving Gold from these visits…the feedback was really good, they felt our partnership in practice was one of the best they have seen, and that all staff were committed and caring.

I am very pleased and proud of all the staff of the Derbyshire Substance Misuse Team who have consistently worked hard and shown true dedication to our service users’ recovery and service delivery. We know internally that we have a good partnership with Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, however, to receive the Gold Award together means this is also recognised by the wider trust and services. The management team were praised for their leadership of the service and commitment to the staff and service users.”
