National Specialist Family Service

22nd November 2021

We have identified the former Seabank Care Home in Saltcoats North Ayrshire as the potential location for a new National Specialist Family Service to open in Summer 2022. We are in the process of purchasing the building.

Phoenix Futures specialises in providing high-quality specialist registered care home services which are regulated by the Care Inspectorate. We have provided services for people seeking to maintain their recovery from drug and alcohol problems in drug-and-alcohol-free environments for more than 50 years.

The proposed new service will be staffed 24/7 and offer specialist support for new parents and their young children, who are mostly babies or toddlers. This will help parents maintain their recovery from past drug and/or alcohol use and improve their mental health and wellbeing as well as developing parenting skills.

Children benefit from specialist child development support and secure family life. The new parents that use this type of service want the best for their children so they can build a happy, healthy future for themselves. Early years interventions such as this have been proven to be highly effective in preventing future harm and providing the best possible start in life for children.

The service will be specifically designed, managed and regulated to operate in a residential setting, offering a peaceful family-friendly therapeutic environment. We have been doing this successfully for 25 years in Glasgow and for 50 years across the UK.

North Ayrshire provides an ideal location due to the highly integrated health and social care system and the depth of expertise across the region.

Central to the approach of Phoenix Futures is a focus on being good neighbours wherever we have services. We understand that you may naturally have questions about the service.
